About Santa on 66

A tribute to Roger Ewing

Santa on 66’s face: rosy cheeks, round glasses and a white beard
Santa on 66 was created in the likeness of Roger Ewing, longtime Santa Claus of the Tulsa Christmas Parade.

The people behind Santa

American Waste Control
Family-owned, founded by Kenny Burkett. Part of Tulsa for more than 50 years.
Mark Cline
The renowned artist who created Santa.
Mary Beth Babcock
Her vision helped bring Tulsa’s Land of the Giants to life along Route 66.
Josh Waddell
3 Bulls UPcycling, maker of Santa’s mailbox.

Santa on 66 is a larger-than-life tribute to Kenny Burkett’s late nephew, Roger Ewing, who brought Christmas magic to countless families while serving as Santa Claus in the Tulsa Christmas Parade for many years. Created in Roger’s likeness, Santa on 66 honors his memory, celebrates the Burkett family’s legacy and ensures that the joy he brought to generations of paradegoers lives on.

The idea came to life during a truly historic year for Tulsa. In 2026, the Tulsa Christmas Parade celebrates 100 years of holiday cheer, while the iconic Route 66 marks its own centennial. As the presenting sponsor of the Tulsa Christmas Parade, American Waste Control wanted to honor these milestones by creating something that would become a lasting part of Tulsa’s history.

Inspired by the creativity and vision of Mary Beth Babcock, whose work has helped bring Tulsa’s beloved Land of the Giants to life along Route 66, Santa on 66 became an opportunity to add another unforgettable character to the Mother Road. Created by renowned artist Mark Cline, Santa joins Tulsa’s growing collection of larger-than-life roadside attractions, bringing a little Christmas magic to Route 66 all year long.

Local artist Josh Waddell of 3 Bulls UPcycling created a one-of-a-kind mailbox using upcycled materials, where visitors of all ages can send letters directly to the North Pole and receive a response from Santa himself.

Located at 3356 Southwest Boulevard in Tulsa, Santa on 66 is more than a roadside attraction. It’s a tribute to family, a celebration of Tulsa’s history and a gift to the community, Route 66 travelers and generations of families still to come.

A little piece of Christmas magic, right here on Route 66.
